Quick Ways to save money online

Let’s face it, life (read: having kids) is expensive, like really expensive sometimes (and I’m not even talking about Christmas or birthdays). I won’t bore you with the benefits of saving money; I’m sure you will have plenty of great ways to spend it. Here are a few simple online hacks to show you how to save money shopping online in 2019 effortlessly.

Digital Coupons

I know, “digital coupons” do not sound glamorous, but you can save heaps of money with them. The best part is that you don’t need even to give someone a coupon, because of it all online.  You can get these coupons on websites such as MyCoupons.com, Dealcatcher.com, and CouponCraze.com. In Australia, you can check out: Finder.com.au, Couponations.com.au, Coupondeals.com.au/. I don’t spend a lot of time on these sites, but before I make an online purchase, I always do a quick Google search for “retailers name, coupon” to see what comes up. It only takes about 10 seconds, and you never know how much money you could save, so go on and get some digital coupons!

Online Rebates

Digital Coupon

Rebates are a bit different than coupons but can also save you heaps.  The definition of a rebate is ” payback (a sum of money),” and that is precisely what happens with online rebates, and it is super easy! Using online rebate websites, you earn money back on purchases. Ebates is the most significant player in the Online Rebates space. Through Ebates you can get discounts on major retailers like Amazon, Sephora, Walmart. The way it works is that the retailer pays Ebates a certain amount of money for referring customers to them. Ebates then pays the customers a share of that as cash back. Hence, shop at your favorite retail stores, and you instantly save money. BeFrugal.com and TopCashback.com also offer similar programs.

Refer and Earn Programs

Refer and Earn Program Info

Like children to parents, marketing to companies is expensive. So some companies have set up programs to allow you to cash in for referring business to them. How it works is you refer a friend or relative to an online merchant with a link. The link contains cookies that track if your referral signs up or buys anything. If they do, then the company pays you a small finders fee or gives you a discount. Two examples of such programs are  Ebates offers this service as does Gilt,   I’ll be doing a follow-up post soon dedicated to the great refer and earn programs available. Abandoning your Shopping Cart

One last trick to save money while shopping online in 2019 is to abandon your shopping cart. Don’t worry; I don’t mean forever (but that would save you money).  If you abandon your shopping cart overnight on a website that you have an account with, you may find that you are given a discount on that product overnight. Companies can track abandoned carts, and they will often get in touch with a discount or offer code not long after your goods have been left. They are so close to a sale and hoping to get you across the line. I know Etsy provides this functionality to its sellers, but it’s up to the seller if they want to use it. It doesn’t always work, but if you are not in a hurry then it’s worth a shot!
